Our next FoWT monthly meeting will take place on Monday 4th November 2024 – 7.00 pm (19.00 hrs) via Zoom.
“Liverpool: Tales from the Tunnels (and other Excavations)” by Jim Marshall.
Our guest speaker on the night will be Jim Marshall, a Member of the Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels, who will talk about “Liverpool: Tales from the Tunnels (and other Excavations)”.
Jim Marshall is a retired Professor of Geology from the University of Liverpool. In this talk he will use historical records and modern imaging to illustrate how the physical landscape and the underlying geology of the City influenced development from the earliest times. Bedrock and younger deposits provided local building stone, variably firm foundations, plentiful water resources (for a while at least) and unique challenges for those needing to construct docks, railways and, of course, tunnels, in the City and under the water.
If you would like to take part in this, or any of FoWT’s future monthly meetings, you will need to register your interest. Once registered, we will e-mail you the details you will need to join the meeting on the night.
To register, Fill in the form on our FoWT Monthly Meeting page and we will do the rest. Once you are on our mailing list to take part in our monthly meetings, look out for our e-mail a few days before the meeting, which will give you all the details you will need to join the meeting.
