A small group of our volunteers in the Banqueting Hall…

Unfortunately since the Covid-19 outbreak, we have not been able to accept new volunteers on site, due to Social distancing limitations. However, once things return to normal, we look forward to once again welcoming New volunteers into the team.

We are always delighted to welcome new volunteers onto our team. Do you fancy being a part of this fascinating voyage of discovery into the history of Williamson and his Tunnels? Our friendly team of volunteers are currently working on Joseph Williamson’s House site, Mason Street, having finished emptying our Paddington site. We are on site every Wednesday and Sunday between 10am and 3.00pm and welcome adults of any age, ability, boys and girls.

If you can spare a few hours on a Wednesday and/or Sunday and fancy getting involved with this interesting project, then please get in touch by using the contact form at the bottom of this page. Once you are a volunteer, you can help as and when you are able.

In order to be a volunteer digger on site, you must be a member for insurance reasons. You can either join online Here or if you prefer, you can join on the day of your first visit.

We are always looking for people to help sort the finds, help with fundraising, be a guide for visitors, do a little research or just help with whatever you can. No help refused!

If digging is what you want to do, you will need to have old clothing or overalls, safety boots, and gloves. We will supply you with a hard hat, though if you have your own please do bring it along. It is recommended that you bring your own snacks and drinks with you for break time and lunch time. On your first visit, you will meet the team and be shown around the House site and will also receive a full induction after a couple of sessions.

It keeps you fit and it’s cheaper than a gym membership if you fancy joining the team

We look forward to welcoming you as one of the team.
