“54 heroes in 45 minutes”, by Cathy Shelbourne.

The next FoWT monthly meeting will be held on 7th November 2022. Our guest speaker on the night will be Cathy Shelbourne, who will talk about maritime history and “54 heroes in 45 minutes”.

Cathy Shelbourne’s maritime heroes and brazen buccaneers are her passion! Her thoroughly researched talks on the seafarers, explorers and pirates during the Age of Sail (15th-19th centuries) are enhanced by fascinating facts and stories of daring and dastardly deeds.

Cathy is a long-standing member of Toastmasters International, and is an active contributor to maritime research organisations and forums.

Take your pick! Maritime historian Cathy Shelbourne has created a pack of Monumental Maritime Heroes playing cards featuring maritime heroes, explorers and navigators, pirates and privateers, and ships – and the monuments to them. She will invite us to pick cards from the pack and then reveal the fascinating stories behind the characters and their monuments.
