A sad loss: Eric Cope – RIP

We were saddened to receive the news of the death of our good Friend, Eric Cope, who passed away on the 28th September 2022 following a short illness. The Trustees and volunteers send their thoughts and condolences to Eric’s family and Friends at this very sad time.

Eric had been a keen supporter of the Williamson’s Tunnels for many years, becoming a member of FoWT in April 1997, making him one of FoWT’s original members from when our campaign to protect Williamson’s world began. Eric loved being a volunteer, he was happy as a tour guide, showing many guests around, telling the story of Williamson and his underground world. He was equally as eager to get involved in the digging and exploration too, he would often be seen at Mason St with either a spade or a bucket in hand.

Eric will be greatly missed by all that knew him and worked alongside him.

RIP Eric

  1. I met him years ago when I used to be a tour guide at the Heritage Centre. He was a lovely man and always very pleasant and a nice sense of humour.
