The Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels are aware that there have been announcements in the media, suggesting the possible closure of the Williamson tunnels Heritage centre on Smithdown Lane.
The Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels are saddened to hear of this situation and the problems that the Joseph Williamson society are currently facing.
FoWT wish to offer our support to the Joseph Williamson Society in their current plight.
Please note that the Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels, who are based on Mason Street, are a separate organisation. We look after two different sections of the Williamson’s tunnel network. Tours of the tunnels with FoWT are unaffected and will continue as normal.
I take it that there is no way we can help the other group. Would it be possible to take them over-and just have the one society.
We are offering our sympathy and support to the Heritage Centre, which is run by an independent company and charity, the Joseph Williamson Society. However, we are not in a position to, nor is it our aim to take over another charity. Chris
