“An Illustrated History of the Tobacco Trade in Liverpool 1642-2007” by Rob Jones.
Our guest speaker on the night will be Rob Jones, who will talk about “An Illustrated History of the Tobacco Trade in Liverpool 1642-2007”.
Rob’s talk covers all the usual suspects, BAT, Ogdens along with big firms that you may not have heard of, like Hignetts and Copes. Of course most scousers know that we had the biggest tobacco warehouse in the World at Stanley Dock at one time. But did you know in WW2 we had enough tobacco for British needs for 2 years? It was so important to morale.
This talk is unique to Rob, However, Rob is also very much involved with tram restoration.
