Live demonstration of the art of Stonemasonry during our Heritage Open Day Visits.

As you most likely know, we are taking part in the excellent and popular Heritage Open Day’s tours this year, as we have for the last several years. Our tours being of Joseph Williamson’s House site, which includes the amazing Banqueting Hall. As always, demand has been high, sadly all tours are now fully booked.

This year though, we have an added bonus for our visitors, with a very special visitor with us on Saturday 7th & 14th September.

Ken Hughes, a specialist Stonemason who has worked on Liverpool’s Iconic Anglican Cathedral. Ken will be at Joseph Williamson’s house site, giving us a demonstration of his skills, how stone is carved and the specialist tools needed. However, it gets better still, not only will Ken give a demonstration, he will give people the opportunity to have a go themselves, be a Stonemason yourself, if only for a few minutes.

We are delighted to have Ken on Site on Both Saturday 7th and 14th September, to see a craftsman at work, We hope you will too.

Ken has been a Stonemason for over 30 years. Training as a Banker Mason in Fountains Abbey for 4 years. Then as an improver on Liverpool Cathedral for 18 months. Ken and his son Thomas, often demonstrate their craft at country shows and events.
