The next FoWT monthly meeting will be held on 5th September 2022, over Zoom, starting at 7:00pm. Our guest speaker on the night will be Liz Stewart, Interim Head of the Museum of Liverpool, who will reveal the ‘Secret Life of Pembroke Place’..
Liz will explore the history of Liverpool through one street, Pembroke Place. This road was the centre of a research and exhibition project at the Museum of Liverpool 2016-2018 and proved to be rich in fascinating stories.
The project grew from a desire to preserve the tiled frontage of Galkoff’s Kosher butcher’s shop, and spread to explore the street and its communities from the mid C18th-C20th.
Liz Stewart is Interim Head of the Museum of Liverpool. An archaeologist who specialises in historic buildings, Liz has cared for the Regional Archaeology Collection at the Museum of Liverpool for many years. Liz has led a number of collections, community archaeology and research project, including projects on The Calderstones, Roman Hoards of Cheshire, the post medieval ceramics industry in Rainford, and Liverpool courtyard housing.
As usual, the talk will be followed by an update on the latest Williamson Tunnels news and an illustrated presentation by one of the FoWT committee on another aspect of Williamson’s Tunnels, with lots of opportunities for questions and answers.
If you’re already on our monthly meeting mailing list we’ll e-mail you with the Zoom link close to the date. If you want to be on the invitation list, or you’re unsure whether you already are, just fill in our form and we’ll do the rest.
