Gerry Jones, RIP

It was very sad to receive the news that our good friend and colleague, Gerry Jones, had recently passed away. The Trustees and volunteers of FoWT send their thoughts and condolences to Gerry’s family and friends at this very sad time.

Gerry had been a member and volunteer digger with FoWT for many years. He loved joining in, digging with the team of volunteers, and the excitement when a discovery was made during our dig in Paddington. However, as well as the digging, Gerry loved gathering all the volunteers together at the end of a busy day for a singalong, especially at Christmas, when we would all sing Christmas carols.

Gerry will be greatly missed by all that knew him and worked alongside him. Rest in Peace.

Gerry doing what he loved, combining his love of music, with his interest in the Williamson’s Tunnels. He often got us all together for a singalong. Gerry plays the accordion, with the diggers singing along in Paddington’s Level 2.

Gerry loved digging with us in the Tunnels. At the end of each day’s digging, volunteers would often have their photographs taken, Gerry with his fellow diggers after a busy day. And the day Gerry and Tom bravely completed the Zip Wire along Church Street, Liverpool City Centre.

  1. I am a proud Scouser 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿now living on the Isle of Man 🇮🇲. I had the pleasure of meeting Gerry a number of times sometimes at the White Star where he would play the modern Manx song “The Laxey Wheel” in recognition of my visit. I cherish the memories of meeting a lovely man. Does anyone know if there are to be donations in his memory? RIP Gerry 🙏

    • Thank you Kelvin, he was a nice man. I’m not sure about the donations, but I’ll let try to find out. Chris
