Lord Mayor of Liverpool pays us a visit

Today FoWT had a visit from the new Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Mary Rasmussen who was accompanied by her daughter Janine who is her Lady Mayoress. They told us that they were both very excited to be making the visit to the tunnels as it was something they had both been wanting to do for a long time.

After fitting them up with hi-viz jackets and hard hats at Mason Street, we took them up to our Paddington site and gave them the full tour. They were amazed at what we had to show them in the deep cellars, and the history of the Williamson story. They were also fascinated by all the artifacts on display there.

Later, we took them below ground at Williamson’s house site and toured part of the network. Unfortunately, they did not have enough time to see all that lies beneath the house, but they left us determined that they would come back another time to see more.

They were lovely people, full of questions about the tunnels, and we had a most enjoyable afternoon. We hope they enjoyed their tour as much as we did.
