2026 is an important year for the Friends of Williamson’s Tunnels. We celebrate our 30th anniversary later in the year, whilst we also celebrate our success with visitors coming to the Williamson’s Tunnels. With ever increasing visitor numbers making their way up to Mason Street for a tour of the Tunnels, and the ever expanding demographic of where our visitors come from, many visitors are relatively local, being from Liverpool or North West England. However, increasing numbers come from further afield too, such as Scotland, the South and Cornwall. However, the biggest surprise continues to be the ever increasing number of holidaymakers from overseas that come up to Mason Street for a tour whilst on holiday. In fact, many of our overseas visitors arrive in Liverpool by cruise ship from the Americas. Many of our overseas visitors choose a tour of the Williamson’s Tunnels with FoWT, in the brief time they have in the city, over the many other top attractions in Liverpool.

This is an amazing achievement for the volunteers of FoWT, who are delighted to have achieved this award, as well as all the previous years’ awards.
