This last week has been quite an exciting week for our volunteers. We finished getting the final infill from the penultimate chamber. The Ash Chamber is the largest and deepest of the two lower chambers, it’s nearly 12 meters tall from its arched roof, down to the bedrock floor. This is quite an impressive space, one that still shocks and surprises even us, each time we enter. This chamber used to be impossible to walk into until our big dig commenced in December 2012. In fact we used to tell our visitors to touch the ceiling between the stone buttresses in the background…
