New Tunnel found in Paddington

If you have ever visited Paddington, you will have been inside the “Mile Tunnel”. This short tunnel, so called because when Charles Hand visited Paddington in 1925, along with members of the “Historic Society of Lancashire and Cheshire”. During their visit it was reported that “they went for nearly a mile before giving up their search for a boundary”. This is most likely the route that they would have taken during their big exploration of Joseph’s underground world.

At the end of the Mile Tunnel is evidence that there was once a side tunnel leading off to the left. We have broken through and started to a look into this tunnel, however it will take quite a while for us to progress with this tunnel with just one volunteer inside at a time for Covid Safety.

It will be worth the wait, but it is an exciting find for future exploration.
